l Mercado de Productos del Cerdo de Vegadeo celebra uno de los pilares de la cultura gastronómica rural asturiana: la matanza y los derivados del cerdo, con especial protagonismo del porco celta y el gochu asturcelta, razas autóctonas recuperadas en los últimos años en el occidente de Asturias. El Ayuntamiento de Vegadeo viene organizando ediciones sucesivas de este mercado en el Pabellón del Recinto Ferial, coincidiendo con las fechas tradicionales de la matanza, en torno a finales de enero o principios de febrero.
Se trata de una cita distinta del mercado semanal generalista que Vegadeo celebra todos los sábados en la explanada del recinto ferial: mientras este último es de periodicidad semanal, el Mercado de Productos del Cerdo es una convocatoria monográfica y anual, pensada para dar salida y visibilidad a los productores locales de la comarca del Eo-Navia.
