Se celebra tradicionalmente los viernes, una cita que ha acompañado el crecimiento de esta villa marinera ligada históricamente a la actividad pesquera y portuaria.
En los últimos años el mercado ha vivido cambios de ubicación -del centro urbano a la zona de O Torrente y de nuevo hacia el entorno portuario- vinculados a la aprobación de una nueva ordenanza municipal de venta ambulante, según recoge tanto la prensa local como el propio Concello.
