he Mercado de Motores is held at the Madrid Railway Museum, housed in the former Delicias Station—the capital’s first major train station, which opened in 1880 and was built using the innovative “Dion” steel-frame system; The station was converted into a museum in 1984 and today houses one of Europe’s most notable railway collections. The street market, created with the aim of bringing art, design, and crafts to Madrid, began in a smaller space, the Nave de Motores de Pacífico—from which it takes its name— and since 2013 has been held in the museum’s Central Hall, where it is held one weekend a month amid historic locomotives and railcars.
