he Medieval Street Market of Alcalá de Henares, known as the Cervantino Market, has been held since 1999 as part of Cervantino Week, which commemorates the baptism of Miguel de Cervantes in the city; he was born in 1547. Set in the Golden Age rather than the Middle Ages proper, it stretches for more than two kilometers through the historic district—a World Heritage Site—featuring several hundred stalls selling crafts and traditional goods, as well as jousting tournaments and falconry. In 2018, it was designated a Festival of National Tourist Interest and is considered the largest historical reenactment market in Europe.
