A little background

he current Portugalete indoor market building is the third one the town has had: the first was built in 1914 by municipal architect Emiliano Pagazaurtundua, and the second, designed by Santos Zunzunegui, was destroyed during the Civil War. Zunzunegui himself built the current building in 1938, which remained virtually unchanged until the renovation in 1990. It was Portugalete’s premier shopping center until the 1990s; it began to decline with the arrival of big-box stores, closed in 2010, and reopened in 2015, combining food sales with cultural activities.

How to Get a Stall at the Uga Municipal Market
Would you like to set up a stall at the Uga Municipal Market market, located at Yaiza? To sell as a street vendor, you need a municipal street vending permit or license: this is issued by the town council, not the market itself, and typically requires that you be registered as a self-employed individual or a business, be in good standing with the tax authorities and Social Security, and have liability insurance that covers the stall.
