he current Burgos indoor market, located in Plaza de España, stands on the site of the historic Mercado Norte, which in turn replaced the old Santocildes market hall from the late 19th century. The Mercado Norte building opened in 1967 as a symbol of modern Burgos and served the city for more than half a century, until it was demolished in 2025 to make way for a new indoor market on the same site.
