A little background
he Concepció Market was built following the relocation of the Gothic Church of La Concepció from Ciutat Vella to its current location in 1871: The town council built the market on land next to the church donated by attorney Joan Pla i Moreau, and it was inaugurated in 1888 based on a design by architect Antoni Rovira i Trias. Its distinctive three-nave iron structure, popularly known as the “flower market” because of its flower shops, was completely renovated between 1996 and 1998.
