Campillín Flea Market

Oviedo, Asturias

The Rastro de Campillín is Oviedo’s largest flea market and antique fair, held every Sunday morning on the field of the same name, next to Campo San Francisco Park in the Asturian capital. The Rastro de Campillín features stalls selling used books, vinyl records, vintage clothing, restored furniture, collectibles, tools, and curiosities—a must-see for Sunday leisure in Oviedo. The Rastro de Campillín serves as a social gathering for Oviedo’s more laid-back crowd, with antique lovers haggling among stalls selling sabers, old cameras, and postcards of industrial Asturias. Combining the visit with a tour of the cider houses in Oviedo’s historic center is one of the best ways to enjoy a Sunday in the north, with the principality’s lush greenery as a backdrop.

History

A little background

Campillín Flea Market — history

l Campillín is a historic green space in Oviedo located next to Campo San Francisco, in the city’s 19th-century expansion district. The open-air Sunday flea markets became a fixture in Oviedo throughout the 20th century as a gathering place for collectors and secondhand dealers, and for decades now, the Oviedo City Council has authorized the Rastro de Campillín as a regular street market at this location.

The Campillín Flea Market has been held at various locations within Old Oviedo over the years, but it retains its character as a popular market with stalls of all kinds. Today, it is one of the city’s most established Sunday activities and a must-see for vintage and collectibles enthusiasts visiting the Principality of Asturias.

How to Get a Stall at the Campillín Flea Market

Would you like to set up a stall at the Campillín Flea Market market, located at Oviedo? To sell as a street vendor, you need a municipal street vending permit or license: this is issued by the town council, not the market itself, and typically requires that you be registered as a self-employed individual or a business, be in good standing with the tax authorities and Social Security, and have liability insurance that covers the stall.

Campillín Flea Market is held on Sundays. The exact fee is set by the Oviedo town council; please check it before submitting your application.

Applications are submitted to the town council, usually online or in person, and may be granted directly (if there are open stalls) or through a public call for stall applications with a waiting list when demand exceeds the number of available stalls. You can download the municipal ordinance on street vending from Oviedo (check the town council’s official website to make sure it’s still in effect, in case it has been updated).

You can contact the Oviedo town council at comercioymercados@oviedo.es.

  1. Contact the town council's commerce or markets department
  2. Gather the necessary documentation: registration as a self-employed individual or business, proof of being up to date with the tax authorities and Social Security, and liability insurance
  3. Submit the application for a street vending permit (through the online portal or at the registry office)
  4. Pay the applicable municipal fee, if required by the town council
  5. Pick up your authorization and bring it with you on market day
